Post-Game Report: OSU vs AZ

Dy -" Denial, Anger, Bargaining"
Post-game Saturday night:
Denial-Please tell me that didn't just happen! Maybe it was just some bad jello.
Anger- You have got to be kidding me. Burned time after time in the corner. I said stick to them like glue!
Bargaining-Please find some way to stay with ASU. I can't take another one like the last two.
This is a short one cause they tell me I'm not allowed to swear. That severely limits my monologue. Anguish. It's what I got.
They KILLED us in the corners. What did I say. Backpack football. 28- I can't pronounce your name, all I can say is you're consistantly 5 steps away and you're FREAKIN killing us.
You're fired.
We need to go to 5 guys on offense. 2 Rogers, Ninja, Wheaton, and I'll let you pick #5. It may open up the run a bit and should give us more than desperate pre-sack crossing routes as our only option. I know, I begged you Coach to run to the weak side a few years ago. The play calling has become entirely too predictable. Run trips once in a while to the strong side. Mix it up a bit. Do something please (bargaining, again) Get Wheaton the ball and let him run.
I need hope. I need something.
Sunday PM:
After sleeping on it, I've realized that there were some extraordinary individual efforts out there from the Beavs. But, this is a team sport guys. The Duck team Saturday looked nothing like the team that played Boise State. And Beavers you too get another chance next week at redemption. The Ninja (80) has great instincts about where to go once the ball is in his hands. Way to back it into the end zone (Jen he should be your crush just for that). Despite being pummeled at every turn, Quizz continued the second effort to gain three painful yards at a time. If we open up the field a bit you never know what's going to happen. Kristick displayed the heart of a lion and was named in nearly every tackle made. I will be sending my nearly 3 year old nephew down there to show the rest of you how to leg tackle. He's the best I've seen lately and he has his own Beaver jersey already.
Ang - "Numbers"
So Jenn and I were commiserating at the game and tried to find something positive to go home with - all we could come up with was - "Wow, that's a pretty sunset" and "Well, at least they played good music." Pathetic! I couldn't agree with Dy more...try opening up that playbook Riley...if I can predict the play, then you're in trouble b/c I don't even know what the h-e-double l to look for! The numbers are equally telling:
- Quizz almost tied the record for the most receptions in one game at 13 (Hass had 14). Hello, they know we're going to use him and he's ALWAYS covered. You've got to use other players to keep them guessing.
- Canfield wasn't all that bad I guess, 303 yards and two TDs, but it's the interceptions that killed us and a non-existent O-line that let the Wildcats pummel him the last quarter with five sacks - two being within the last 15 seconds of the game! I noticed three times he actually MOVED in the pocket and went for some rushing yardage despite looking as clumsy and big-footed as Derek Anderson! Friggin' miracle - he can be taught!
- #3 - can I tell you how excited I got when he came jaunting onto the field like my knight in shining armor! Too bad he didn't make the completion for a TD. I want him back - he's got spirit and toughness...sorry Canfield, I think you're great and a hottie, but we need a shake-up at this point.
- I still love my Ninja (#80) - I know he missed two big catches, but he had excellent defensive coverage, had a lifesaving TD that was almost an interception, and at least was goin' for it every play! In my opinion, he and the Rogers' bros are the only ones out there earning their scholarships.
-0 - yes, that's a goose egg for the number of sacks by our D. Where the heck has it gone? Did the O-line and D-line switch players this week? Get some fire under your butts boys!
- #28's name is Tuimaunei - apparently, he's a safety. And, I also read today Catchings was out after an ankle injury in the 3rd Qtr.
- 2-yard line Punt Returns - hey, can ANYONE explain to me why in the heck we didn't try to return the ball on the 30 and instead allow it to bounce and land twice on the 2-yard line during the game??? Seriously, I was about ready to run down there and give an ass-whoopin' to those "returners!"
Sorry to hear that you've been literally branded with the Beav logo Dy - that's takin' one for the team.
Jenn - It's really just all a complete disaster! Seriously, the only game we've looked decent in this year was against PSU! I'm really sad. I just think there's too many things that are broken and maybe not enough talent to fix it. I say put in Lyle and pray! At least he leaves the pocket since our O line can't hold anyone back. A pocket passer is great if you have the protection but obviously we don't so it AINT WORKING!!!!!!!!!! I'm giving this season one more game and then I'm going to start thinking about next season. Just call me DEBBIE DOWNER!
BTW: Checking out the ESPN site for updates and seeing 'Just Ducky' as the headline really pets my peav too! Icing.

Beavtalk - OSU vs AZ - The Hunt For The Big O

Ask and you shall receive...we've had some requests for pre-game analysis, so here's our Beavtalk for the OSU vs AZ game Sat.  Let us know what you think!  And, this will be our first game of the season where the 3 blonde beavs will ALL be in attendance - watch out boys - look for tight jeans, orange beer cozies, and a Baby Bjorn!
Ang - How's this for dedication...not only am I using precious nap time to write this, but I'm typing with one hand while holding my 4-month-old's bink in her mouth. OK, on to pre-game stuff...how's a big "N" for nervous - both AZ and our beautiful Beavs are coming off tough, 10-point losses to good teams. Canfield is shaky, Halahuni and Ninja sat out practice Tues. b/c of injuries, and our O-line got a beating from Cavanaugh as we're now the Pac-10 leader w/ 10 sacks in three games. The only redeaming factors are that we have home field advantage (of course, that did nothing for us against big Cinci) and AZ is moving to their #2 QB who's also known as a passer (same type of O we've been dealing with this season thus far BUT we DO NOT want to see much of AZ's running back Grigsby who's #2 in league - FYI, Quizz is #3). Speaking of QB switches, I'm hoping Riley is ready to pull the trigger if Canfield starts panicking again out there as I know Moevao can take a beating and keep on ticking...I know, I know the O-line needs to step up too.
I'll close with Quizz's very prolific quote after the Cinci loss last week, “This is a key week for us,’’ said Rodgers, “We can go forwards, or we can go backward.’’ Come on Beavs, show us what you're made of - play with that HEART!!! Someone tell the David and Golliath story again in that locker room Sat...
Jenn - Looked up the national standings to see how we rank.......or DON'T RANK is more like it, in comparison to AZ.
Quarterback : Canfield 57th, Scott 88th
Runningback: Grisby 4th and Quizz 11th
D - Tackles: OSU (Kristick ;) 103rd, AZ (Ross) 183th
Kicking: Kahut 4th, Zendejas 13th
Maybe this puts things into perspective. I do believe it's all about matchups so who knows. BUT we are at home and we are against a PAC-10 team that Riley is familiar with and played against for years. I think figuring out a new team like UNLV or CINCI in the pre-conference each season has got to be more difficult that the conference teams that we have played year after year.  GAME ON!
Dy (the closer) - We tend to focus on glory positions. Quizz and James rackin' up the yards. The Ninja with his ballet like mid air acrobatics. It's when people start getting hurt that you realize how important the O and D lines are. The Cougs dealt with this last year. Every time they sent a new QB in he'd be carried off the field. We've got to find the All Americans in our offensive line or this is going to be a long painful season. One loss does not make the season over. But, Cinnci's team exploited our every weakness. We call that a teaching moment Coach!
Arizona will certainly try to exploit the corners. Get down the field boys and stick to them like glue. I call this tactic backpack football. Have Jello, will travel. See you there!

Hit the Hole - Early and Often

Yes, only Dy is witty enough to come up with that title...we're trying a new format to ensure the full effect of our banter comes through in our blog.  See the new dialogue format below and don't forget to vote in our new poll!
Ang - Canfield is now CANTfield in my book - what's the deal: 5 sacks? 29 of 45 and an interception? Again all Rogers, all the time? No fire in his eyes, no leadership. Get movin' in that pocket...or throw the damn ball!  Yes, I know I can hear my hubby telling me to give the guy some slack and not to jump on him this early, but he looked terrible out there. Bring on the Moevao Mr. Riley...you've got two great QBs, make 'em compete!  Although, I remember what happened when he tried that a few years back...we only need one leader I guess...
Jenn - I too was very upset at Canfield on Saturday. However, after calming down and reflecting on the game, I now think it's the front line and the play calling that I'm not liking. Yes, I would love to have a quarterback that actually leaves the pocket and can scramble but it would be even nicer if our front line would protect him and give him more that 2 seconds to throw the ball. Canfield has one heck of an arm on him and why Riley isn't using it I'm not sure. After the UNLV game I was even wondering if he might have gotten injured on the furosious sack? I know the Rogers brothers are great but I'm getting borred and he's not challenging the D at all. When FSNW turned us off to see the opening pitch of the Mariners, I was mortified!
Ang - I know!  I couldn't believe they cut over to the friggin' Yankees/Mariners with OSU making a drive in the last 1.5 minutes of the game - unfriggin' believable!  To top it off, I couldn't get the radio station to come in so heard the end of the game through a surplus of fuzz!  Sorry guys, I hate baseball (except OSU's team).
Dy - The best part of Saturday's game was in the parking lot testing out my famous jello shots. It's a great way to make new Beaver friends. Well really any kind of friend. In fact, it's very possible I was proposed to on Saturday. Refer back to the "priorities" article. Proposals on game day are totally fine. Weddings during football season are not! Just a note to the guys: fat diamonds are the best. Just as I make sure to use nothing but the best ingredients in my famous jello shots, please make sure to go for quality when selecting the ring.
Ang - Dy, you crack me up...but you're right...don't go cheap on us guys!
Dy - The Beavs didn't fall to an inferior team. Cinncinnati has two HUGE lines and a QB that may end up on the Heisman list. Every Beaver fan at the game and at home was frustrated by missing out on opportunities. Play calling is HUGE. Football teams CAN NOT win games if they fail to capitalize in the red zone. Settling for field goals will not suffice against Cinncinnati or any other Pac10 team. Our O line was dwarfed by Cinncinnati's and just could not protect Canfield. Using a seven step drop to give Canfield more time doesn't allow the Beavs to capitalize on the run. Even though Quizz is faster than a Prius, he needs to hit the hole fast or it will close up on him. Time and time again that happened. When the refs ruled against the Beavs interception with 7 min to go that put the final nail in the coffin. Adeniji (80) aka the Ninja has great hands, Coach. Let's try to utilize that over the middle pass and look to him deep once in a while. Still want to see more of Poyer and his wheels. Hail to Kristick, way to go.
Ang - And, for the record I'm still loving my Ninja (#80 for those of you who haven't noticed his tight rear yet-he's my pick for super hotty of the season), James did a fantastic job making things happen when we had jack squat, and way to go Kristick w/ that interception!  Dy...I'm starting to wonder about Quizz...is he really that fast???  I'm still waiting for that next gear that brother James seems to have?  BTW, how's this for an image - today I saw two ladies driving a Prius with "Coexist" and "Hybrid" bumper stickers all over their car whilst lighting up a cigarette - I'm pretty sure those aren't harmful for the environment or anything...
Jenn - Yes, loving Kristick......our modern day 'Piscitelli'. Wonder if he has an 8 pack too???? I'm going to pretend he does :)
Dy - So, whose our new crush for the year? Word has gotten out about the blog and I have all kinds of input from interested parties to share. Shall we?

Dy-Beavs Leave Vegas with Bad Buzz!

Beaver fans traveled in masses to see the UNLV v. OSU match up.  We hung by the pool, reveled in the fab live music, gambled all our dollars away and partied it up with Dennis Rodman (it's not Vegas unless you party with Rodman) sports fans.  We arrived limo'd up at the stadium in true 3 Blondes style.  OSU chants echo'd the hallways.  The Beavers represented.  I'm proud to be a Beaver fan at this moment.
UNLV threw down with some viscious hits in the first quarter.  Canfield got his bell rung and may have been playing a bit sore after that.   After a WAC looking spot the Beavs decided to go for it with 4th and inches (minus the yard the officials took from us) and didn't get it again.  That was the momentum shift in the game.  A missed PAT and a missed field goal left the Beavs down by one with minutes to go.
Should Riley have gone for it with 4th and inches and up 6 points?  Are we seeing a new Riley?  Some criticized the old Riley for being too conservative.  What do you think?
To leave you with a note from the UNLV fans: "why didn't you cover the s*^&%* spread you *%&%'s!"
And to that we say here, here.  Vegas wins again!

Dy-Hot Orange, a long run and a Prius

Ang wants some comic relief and I'm out of that for now.  Comedy will come along after the beer fairy starts bringing me frosty adult beverages at the Mandalay Bay pool as I wait patiently (or not) for the Beavs to take down UNLV.    Long, stressful days and it's all I can do not to strangle the guy that cut me off in busy Seattle traffic.  Can anyone tell me why-Jen this is no reflection on your driving ***see below- Washington drivers use the left lane to drive and right lane appears to be for passing until some coffee drinkin guy in a Prius...  Never mind.  I can't start in with the Prius drivers or we'll never get out of here.
***Although she did drive over a center median one time. Long ago, but hey that's what studs are for, right?

So, football.  The PSU game left me with the feeling that it was winter.  Other than that we haven't seen Quizz's long run or his 5th gear!  He's got a whole other speed we've never seen.  I'll put Vegas odds that he's faster than a Prius on I-5 in Washington.  We're gonna see it in Vegas and I for one can't hardly wait!

Hot orange is hard to find. 103 degrees on game day in Las Vegas and the 3 blondes are a little hard up for some hot orange to wear to the game.  Any ideas or do I have to resort to puffy paint?  I'll do it.  Don't make me.  I'm not going to apologise.  I'm already doing way too much of that, but not to the Prius guy.  That's never going to happen.

W - a classy, solid one by the Beavs

Wow - ironic how the Beav game was the EXACT opposite of the Duck game the other night.
Opening with a two-play TD. Ending with a Viking TD celebrated by both teams and respectful handshakes from not only the coaches, but the team members. Good stuff...gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.
Except for "All Rodgers, All Day" equals "Anxious Ang" - granted, they're phenomenal and I love seeing them both make those break-away, heart-pounding runs that can result in Heisman-esque #s the end of the season (253 offensive yards between the two of them and record high three TDs in one game for Quizz), but we need versatility! When Canfield finally completed a pass to "Ninja" (as my household now calls Adeniji) in the 2nd quarter, I was thrilled - finally someone else touched the pig skin! (BTW, Ninja is now on my "special teams" list for the year.) Now I know they were playing with an abbreviated playbook with the new lines, but that seemed about it in the Beavs offensive playbook until they put in the 2nd string...
Katz they say has the arm of "John Elway" and he proved it as long as he was throwing to fail-safe Nichols who apparently never drops a pass. But Stevenson looks like he needs to start stocking up on Wheaties to beef up his legs to get through those linebackers or else develop some quickness if he wants to fill in for Quizz.
On the defensive side, I was worried about all of the Viking's completed passes and even more worried about the fact we let them have a few 4th and 1 scenarios. Even though they didn't score on them and we held the run well, we've got much harder opponents on the way that will take full advantage...maybe this was just a case of them getting their sea-legs?
Finally, I was wondering how Taylor Kavanaugh's quote in his Oregonian op-ed re: his Viking QB little brother would play out..."Remember, I taught him everything he knows." I'm a sucker for the sap, Rudy stories...the Viking's one and only TD was by Connor Kavanaugh who grew up rooting for the Beavs, but wasn't recruited by us and his big bro was. It was cool to see respect on both sides of the ball after his TD play and his amazing ability to juke LBs for such a little guy. And, you gotta love the fam with the matching shirts - I'm thinking they could sell those and make some bucks.

Dy-1 and ohhh!

I'm struck by how much I enjoy the sound of helmets and pads clashing play after play.   It's football season once again!

Dy-Winged Glory-NOT!

I was able to watch the UO v Boise St. game at the local watering hole.  I actually watched a Duck fan (just after half time) remove his new winged jersey and turn it inside out.  Don't hurt yourself jumping off the bandwagon so fast dude.  What ever happened to being a fan in good times and in bad?
Second, why were the Duck players hanging their heads after half time?  It seemed like they just gave up and EARLY.  Buck up campers you've got a long season ahead.  Go run some stairs and next time stay in it to win it!

Jen - Pac10 Embarrassment!

What I come away with after last nights Boise St. win (other than a smile of course) is embarrassment. As a fan of a Pac10 team, I am embarrassed as well! I actually feel bad for my Duck friends and family. I know they must be completely embarrassed and PISSED! Last night wasn't just a Duck vs. Bronco showdown......it was a Pac10 vs. WAC showdown and guess who left with class and who looked like a bunch of 'Darelicks', to quote my hubby.
Somehow I don't see the Vikings throwing punches after the game tomorrow!
I have but 4 points I'd like to make and then I'll leave this one alone because I think it spoke for itself.
1) I hope that the UofO make a HUGE example of Blount esp. since this was offense number 2. If you are going to dish out so much trash, you better be able to take it without turning into an animal.
2) Boise St's Head Coach is a classy guy! His comments after the game were very restrained!
3) Boise St's fans and players deserve a lot of kudos for not clearing the stands and benches because the after game drama could have turned into a mega disaster. Again - classy!
4) THANK GOODNESS the Beavs don't play Boise St!
Let the tailgating begin.................

Ang - PAC-10 Peanut Gallery

Let me start with this quote during ESPN's Halftime Report, "There's a little nuance in this particular Duck helmet - they have an 'O' on each side - it lets them keep running track of their first downs and their scoring. That was stunning in its ineptitude and in Boise State's dominance." - Rece Davis
Normally I'm not a fan of the Smurf Turf, but tonight that glaring blue background with camouflaged Boise State unis was too much for the Ducks. My hubby says any Duck loss out of conference isn't good for the PAC-10, but he's used to SEC football and on this side of the Missouri, in this state, in our school, we root against the Ducks - no matter what! Maybe it's after years of being heckled by arrogant fans, their seemingly endless alumni funds, or the fact they're trying to take baseball away from us too, but it's just the way the dynamics work in this state.
Back to the game, gotta love a QB named Moore, even if he's not a Beav. This kid is unbelievable with the poise of an NFL player - even after a few 1st half fumbles, he picked up the ball, dodged a tackle, and threw a completion - again unbelievable (so was one of his 4th qtr. fumbles that just fell out of his hand!) Even more unbelievable was the fact UofO only had 14 yards in the first half! I will hand it to Masoli, however, he can take a hit and give 'em too - almost Moevao style, but not quite as respectfully "blue collar-esque" as Moevao.
Now, the 2nd half's five turnovers brought some reality that this was the first game of the season for both teams - 3 for BSU and 2 for OR - and also made for a boring end of the game.  That was until Oregon's Blount drops one of the Boise players, then takes a swing at his own teammates, and then fans, coaches, and security. I'm thinking the Ducks should send him packing to Florida St./Miami - dude, it's a game, chill-out!
Now, I know some of you want me to go further roasting the Ducks, but let me say one word - KARMA - I don't want it - not with our untested O and D lines!
Let me end with this quote from one of the ESPN commentators with five mins. left in the game, "An offense that last year looked so prolific to end the season is looking very impotent right now." - Shizam!

Dy-Watching with anticipation

I'd like to see Saturday's game first because I was distracted at the spring game (freezing to death).  I'm gonna jump in with the Special watch list anyway.  Here goes:
Offense-
Damola Adeniji at WR- I love a name you can't pronounce.  He's a defector from Eugene! And he blocked the punt last year at the WSU game for the TD.  Look for production from this guy.
Michael Phillipp-Ang nailed it. Watch and learn is his creed for the season. 6'3" and 320. Can he out eat Michael Phelps? Hmm.
James Dockery at CB-He's already got his sights on going after his nemisis at USC (sorry all you Big 10ers, I promised I'd keep the words small).
Don't leave out Catchings yet-He's back he's fast and I can't wait.  See ya in Vegas!
Defense-
Paea-DT-You're our rock.  And gotta give a shout out to the Tongan Rugby team.  I felt like a little person in a land of giants when the 3 blondes ran into this group in town for the Nike games a few years back.  That's all I'm sayin.
Jordan Poyer DB-Two athletic parents and Dad's a football coach.  A natural.  His recruiting film looked super fast!  Although there may have been a few cocktails involved at the recruiting dinner.  The other blondes can be a bad influence sometimes...
Special Teams-
Marcus Wheaton R-and he returns punts (please refer back to "why we love the run back guy")  Wheaton is fast, fast, fast.  NCAA needs to clear this kid so he can light up the field.
Crush of the year-
Every year the 3 blondes seem to get a little crush.  It annoys and frustrates our husbands and boyfriends and to that we say, too bad!  You can have Fergi or Beyonce!  Crushes of the past include TJ, Piscatelli and most recently Slade Norris.  Some out there are curious who it will be... We're holding out for more!  TBD.
Big Daddies Picks-
Big Daddy yells so loud our eardrums hurt.  He's a lifetime Beav but is not thrilled with technology so here's his ones to watch.
Jordan Bishop-WR. Gabe Miller DE. Dwight Roberson Linebacker. Kevin Frahm-DE.

Dy-Beavers explained to the Big 10 and SEC...talking slowly w small words!

Benny Beaver is our mascot.  We embrace everything orange and black.  So when we refer to Beavers or Beaverdom or Beavs, we are not being crass or rude.
And I've heard just about enough about how the Pac-10 isn't a real conference.  Make your case on the field.  BCS take note.  We'd like a real national championship game.  How about now?

Ang-Picks, Ponderings, and Pansies

So much to comment on, so little nap time to get it done...
My two cents on the 3 Blonde Beav's Special Team/Watch List (I feel like I'm making my NCAA Basketball picks - wait, wrong season! This year, I'm making my picks blindly as I haven't seen any of these guys play yet, nor have I seen them in their tight pants, which is usually a better indicator of success):
Offense - Michael Philipp - OL - HUGE GUY who's expected to start; otherwise, eventually Jordan Bishop - RS Fresh/WR who had a good Spring session and Keynan Parker - CB - whose got the speed.
Defense - There's something about Tom Black - DE out of Canada - maybe b/c he's a hockey player or maybe b/c he had 24 tackles in one game in HS!
Special Teams - Zane Norris (as both LB and Special Teams - he's gotta be good w/ an older bro like Slade beating him up his whole life!)
OK girls, what are yours???
Onto Dy's "Why do we love the run back guy" - well, it's easy - he's got the breakaway potential - in line with our dreams akin to Rudy, we love a Cinderella story, it's human nature!
Finally, onto the Duck's uni's...I've been told Nike provides the numerous options to "test" them out and b/c UofO is Knight's alma mater, but I think it's b/c the Ducks are just plain high maintenance! If you were Chip Kelly or Bellotti, wouldn't you be saying "thanks, but no thanks" - we're starting to come across as whiney pansies who care more about our outfits and pounding our chests than our skills? I guess it goes along with the Duck's entitlement issues...don't get me started on that!

Jenn - Is Black the New Green?

Last time I checked BLACK was a Beaver color? The fact that you can now see a Duck on the field wearing head-to-toe black is disturbing to say the least! Did they run out of shades of green? Did 'lightening yellow' make them cross-eyed? Are they trying to look slimmer? Does black look better with the feathers? I'm not sure how Duck fans feel about this but if I saw my Beavs come out on the field wearing green, I'd leave!

You may be thinking, black is neutral.....like, say white. Yes, both schools wear white BUT their colors are green and yellow and ours are black and orange. Black is off limits in my opinion.

AND while I'm on the subject: 160 different jersey options to choose from? Really? Please! It's football. It's the size of your muscles that matters.....not the size of your wardrobe! If you think I'm making this stuff up (I know it seems like I HAVE to be), check out the link! http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksbeat/2009/09/oregon_ducks_uniforms_so_many.html

Dy-Why do we love the run back guy so much?

Whether it's Ernie Davis or those who have followed like TJ or Sammy I find myself always having a little extra love for the run back guy.  Is it the potential for him to roll to the outside and breakaway down the sideline?  Is it the fact that he has a defense filled with boys so big, they could eat the Pizza Hut three large pizza special all by themselves, and still be poised to knock the tar out of him?  Is it because he has a screw loose?
I think the answer is D.  All of the above and a whole lot of HEART.
It's the heart of the run back guy we all admire.  I know the blondes will have more to say about this topic.  What about you?

Ang-How Tos & For the Record

2) Type in your note and press "Post Comment"
For the record:
Yes, I was preggers TWICE during football season (what the "H-E" double "LL" was I thinking), but I say that's a true test to your fan loyalty!  The first time was during 2006 - the year of the thriller, specifically the OSU wipeout of then #3 USC - jumping and screaming as vigorously as when sans kid and almost sending myself into early labor.  Jenn had to physically restrain me from storming the field after the game.  The second time around was late in my first trimester - BKM - Jello shots are a great cure for morning sickness.
Finally, another article for ya:

Dy-Priorities

Priorities are what set the great athletes apart from the average.  More time running, extra reps in the gym and a drive to continue on when you are bruised and beaten at 3 a days.
But, I'm not here to talk about the athletes.  I'm here to talk about fans.  Fans with tickets in hand.  Who go to the recruiting dinners, spring games and read every article and blog they can get their hands on.  These are the fans (like me) who consult their football schedule before committing to any social event during football season.  I and maybe some of you out there may have been accused of being insensitive to our friends and family who schedule major events (weddings, baby showers, etc) during football season.  Remember even if you get married on a bye week eventually your anniversary will fall on a game day and then what?  Some of 3 blondes even attempted to schedule pregnancies around football season.  Don't ask me how, it wasn't me:)
Everyone has choices.  I choose football.  I'm sorry, I still love you.  Please forgive me.

Sometimes a girl needs to get in the mood.  The mood for football!  I suggest starting with the classic-Rudy.
Then go for something new and inspiring...
The Express-bring tissue!

Then watch the Beavs lay a beating to USC last year.  You know it's still on your dvr!  You had to delete all the back issues of Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives to save it.  Now is the time.
Get Inspired!

Dy-Choosing the "Special Team"

Every year it's been a tradition to scout the up and coming Beavs from each section of the team and appoint them to the Blonde Girls "Special Team".  These are the underclassmen, red shirts or jc transfers who we believe will be stepping up in the coming season.   Ang-I'm not sure if we want to call them old guys cause we might be older than them.   It all started with TJ.  Joining him were the likes of Mike Hass, Sabby Piscatelli (special teams was horrendous when he started, but he looked best in the uniform from the shoes up) and he rose to the challenge.  And let's not forget last year, Slade Norris and Victor STRONG Butler.
So this year will be a challenge with so much talent and speed to choose from.  Catchings is out for the season and he was a shoe in.  While we're on the topic could you have a better name than Catchings?  Really.
So who's it gonna be?  Write in your suggestions.

Dy-Let's start at the very beginning

First a little something for the tailgating fans who want to do it right.
Jello Shots Beaver style!
Stoli and above only.  You love your friends and have a good job so don't buy the cheap stuff.   Recovering Burnetts users know who you are!  You can get souffle cups and lids at the United Grocers locations.  Each pack makes approx 25-35 jello shots.  Of course you can play with the ratios a bit, but in field testing 4 out of 5 Beaver fans approved.

1 pack-Orange Jello
1-2/3 cups boiling Stoli Vanilla or Citron
5/6 cup (just less than a cup)cold water

Ang - The ’09 Football Season & The Old Guys

I haven’t had a chance to do any pre-season reading, but here’s my take so far:
A lot of sports reporters are talking about the Rogers brothers on the offense side and rightly so, but this is a teamwork based team! Let’s not forget the little guys…how are Kavanaugh and McCants looking in camp this Fall?  And, who's our new safety??? As far as QBs go this year, I’m bummed about Moevao as back-up – he’s the heart of the team to me and a tough ass! Granted, Canfield is a hotty, but I’m hoping he’s got the spirit and confidence to keep the team going.  I'm especially nervous about our young line...
On the defense, this is where our line will make/break us (we lost 5/7), but thank God for Kristick and Pankey.  Our new line has yet to be tested...
And, excuse my ignorance, question of the day - looks like Zane Norris (RS Freshman LB out of Jesuit) is related to Slade Norris???  Way to go Riley!
OK, and here’s a shout out to Stroughter and Anderson – both vying for full-time slots in the NFL:
Stroughter

I love his flexibility on the line and great attitude – maybe will help redeem us from the arrogance of Ocho Cinco!
Anderson

Yada yada…Brady Quinn. Who cares! Give Anderson a shot man! A TD pass in a preseason game is all that separates the two…give me a break!  Anderson has the heart of an underdog and he's a hick w/o entitlement issues!
